2009 Little Miss Rodeo Washington
Devin Gastelum
Duvall, WA
Duvall cowgirl Devin Gastelum is your 2009 Little Miss Rodeo Washington. An all American green eyed 10 year old who enjoys riding horses, playing softball, swimming and drawing.
Along with winning the Appearance, Photogenic, Presentation, and the coveted horsemanship title Devin’s award winning speech was all about the “Big family Boots” she looks to fill one day with the deep rodeo history on her fathers side. From today’s cousins, Victor Aros and Cezar De La Cruz making the National Finals Rodeo in 2008 all the way back to her Great, Great Grandfather Santiago Gastelum who was a member of the Cowboy Turtles association, prior to it being the PRCA.
Devin started riding with mom and dad as a baby. Her first pony Spice was a lead line barrel horse when she was 3 years old. From there she moved up to Bucky, then Hammer then Goldie and now is riding her Mom’s former barrel horse Sugar. In 2008 Devin won the reserve Western National champion wrangler class and the reserve Washington State wrangler class in the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association. She was also a proud member of the 2008 Snohomish Valley Little League All-Star Softball team that finished runner up in the District 9 tournament where she played catcher or center field every inning of every game.
Devin is looking forward to a very exciting year promoting the western heritage and sport of rodeo by attending many rodeos, mounted shootings, parades and other community functions.
